Jaxxon vs GLD (2026): Prices, Materials and Warranty Compared
Jaxxon vs GLD comes down to what kind of chain you want. Jaxxon is the pick for plain gold Cuban links, with a 30-day trial, free US shipping and a 365-day warranty. GLD is cheaper for plated chains, has a wider iced-out range and offers a lifetime guarantee, but with a shorter 14-day return window and a fee on every warranty claim.
We read both brands' own product pages, policies and Trustpilot profiles on October 27, 2026, and every number below comes from those pages. We're Adamans, a third brand that sells moissanite chains, so we've kept our own products out of the head-to-head and put them in a separate section at the end. Where Jaxxon or GLD does something better than us, we say so.
Key takeaways
- Plain 5mm Cuban, 20 inches: GLD $150 (18k gold plated) vs Jaxxon $199 (14k gold bonded to steel). GLD is about $49 cheaper.
- 3mm tennis chain, 20 inches: Jaxxon $174 with CZ stones vs GLD $220. GLD's page doesn't name the stone.
- Warranty: Jaxxon covers defects and fading for 365 days. GLD guarantees plated and vermeil pieces for life, but it's a one-time replacement with a claim fee from $9.99.
- Returns: Jaxxon gives 30 days, GLD gives 14. Jaxxon wins this one clearly.
- Trustpilot, last 3 months as of October 27, 2026: Jaxxon averages about 4.6 stars from about 470 reviews; GLD about 4.4 from about 2,550.
- Jaxxon's iced chains use CZ, and GLD's plated tennis chain page doesn't name its stone. If you want stones that pass a diamond tester, check the spec or compare moissanite chains separately.

Materials: is Jaxxon real gold, and what is GLD made of?
Jaxxon
Jaxxon's plain Cuban chains are "Real 14k Gold bonded to hypoallergenic Performance Steel using next-gen PVD technology," in the brand's own words on the 5mm Cuban page. So yes, there is real 14k gold on the surface, but the chain itself is steel. Jaxxon calls this "gold bonded" rather than plated, and its FAQ says a bonded finish is thicker than plating. It doesn't publish a thickness in microns.
The iced pieces are a different build. The 3mm tennis chain and the 10mm iced Cuban are listed as "a nickel-free copper and zinc alloy" with a rhodium or 14k gold finish, set with "5A CZ stones." That's an honest label, and it means these chains won't pass a diamond tester. Jaxxon also sells solid 14k gold pieces, which its FAQ says are made in Italy.
GLD
GLD's 5mm Miami Cuban is sold as "18k Gold Plated" and its 3mm Diamond Tennis Chain as "14k White Gold Plated." Neither product page names the base metal or the stone. In GLD's own comparison article, it says its plated pieces use a "surgical grade stainless steel core" and its vermeil uses .925 sterling silver with gold over 2.5 microns. GLD also runs a moissanite collection, though when we looked it was mostly earrings and rings in vermeil and sterling silver, plus a solid gold line.
Plain answer: Neither brand's everyday chains are solid gold. Both put real gold over a cheaper base metal. Jaxxon is clearer on its product pages about what's underneath. GLD's names say "Diamond Tennis Chain," so check the stone type before you buy.
Jaxxon vs GLD prices, chain for chain
GLD lists lower prices on plated chains, and its prices rise in small steps with length. Jaxxon's 5mm Cuban is one price from 20 inches up.
| Chain | Jaxxon | GLD |
|---|---|---|
| 5mm Cuban, 18" | $179 | $150 |
| 5mm Cuban, 20" | $199 | $150 |
| 5mm Cuban, 24" | $199 | $160 |
| 3mm tennis chain, 20" | $174 (rhodium) / $179 (gold tone) | $220 |
| Listed weight, 5mm Cuban 20" | 23–27g (one weight range for the chain) | 25g (+/- 2g) |
Both brands run promo codes and bundle offers most of the year, so the price at checkout can be lower than this. Compare listed prices like for like, then check what the code actually takes off.
Warranty: Jaxxon 365 days vs GLD lifetime guarantee
On paper GLD wins: a lifetime guarantee beats one year. Read the terms and it's closer than it looks.
- Jaxxon. The Cuban chain pages say the chain "is protected for a full year against any material or manufacturing defects, including fading or discoloration," and Jaxxon will replace it at no extra cost.
- GLD. The lifetime guarantee covers non-custom gold plated and vermeil jewelry that's damaged, fades or stops working under normal wear. It's a one-time replacement. There's a $9.99 fee on standard gold plated claims, $29.99 on earrings and non-iced vermeil, and $49.99 on moissanite. Custom, solid gold, watches and grillz are excluded from the lifetime guarantee, and GLD keeps the damaged piece.
If you expect to wear a plated chain for years, GLD's guarantee is still the longer safety net, as long as you're happy to pay the fee once. If you want a fault in the first year fixed with no fee, Jaxxon is simpler.
Returns and shipping
Jaxxon gives you 30 days from delivery for a refund, exchange or store credit, and the product pages call this a 30-day risk-free trial. Engraved pieces can't be returned, and the refund policy notes returns may carry a $10 handling fee. GLD gives you 14 days from delivery, sends a prepaid return label once the return is approved, and doesn't refund the original shipping. Custom pieces, final sale items and licensed league pieces can't be returned at GLD.
For US shipping, Jaxxon's product pages list free standard shipping at 4–7 days, with paid faster options. GLD's free Economy shipping takes 6–11 business days, with paid Express (3 business days) and Superfast (2 business days). GLD orders of $599 or more need a signature on delivery.
Jaxxon vs GLD reviews: what the last 3 months on Trustpilot say
We don't quote all-time scores, because a brand can change a lot in a few years. These are Trustpilot reviews from the last 3 months, all languages, to October 27, 2026, which reflects what ordering from each brand is like today.
| Brand | Reviews, last 3 months as of October 27, 2026 | Average | 5 stars | 1 star |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jaxxon | About 470 | About 4.6 | 87% | 7% |
| GLD | About 2,550 | About 4.4 | 78% | 11% |
| Adamans | About 310 | About 4.6 | 82% | 7% |
Jaxxon scores higher than GLD on recent reviews, and it has a higher share of 5-star reviews than we do too. GLD gets far more reviews, which fits a brand selling at higher volume, and about 1 in 9 of its recent reviews is 1 star.
Which is better, Jaxxon or GLD?
Choose Jaxxon if
- You want a plain gold Cuban chain for everyday wear.
- You want 30 days to try it and free US shipping.
- You'd rather have clear material labels than a long guarantee.
Choose GLD if
- You want iced pendants, collab pieces or licensed sports jewelry Jaxxon doesn't make.
- You want the lowest listed price on a plated chain.
- You plan to keep a plated piece for years and value a lifetime replacement, fee included.
For a plain chain, we'd lean Jaxxon on reviews and returns. For iced styles, Jaxxon's tennis chains use CZ and GLD's tennis chain page doesn't say, which is where a third option comes in.
If you want moissanite instead of CZ: where Adamans fits
We make moissanite chains, so here's how ours compare, with the parts where we lose.
| 3mm tennis chain, 20" | Jaxxon | GLD | Adamans |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listed price (Oct 27, 2026) | $174 | $220 | $368.99 |
| Stones | 5A CZ | Not named on the page | D color VVS1 moissanite, GRA report included |
| Passes a standard diamond tester | No (CZ) | Not stated | Yes |
| Finish | Rhodium over copper-zinc alloy | 14k white gold plated | 18K white gold plating with PVD reinforcement |
| Warranty | 365 days | Lifetime, one-time replacement, fee | Lifetime: defects, breakage, fading, lost stones |
| Returns | 30 days | 14 days | Final sale on moissanite |
Our 3mm Moissanite Tennis Chain costs $149 to $195 more than the Jaxxon and GLD 3mm chains, and the reason is the stone. Moissanite tests as diamond on a standard thermal tester and comes with a GRA report; CZ doesn't. If you want something thicker, our 5mm Moissanite Tennis Chain is $454.99 at 20 inches. For a plain Cuban look, our moissanite Cuban link chains include a 10mm plain Cuban with a moissanite-set clasp from $281.99.
Our lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects, breakage during normal wear, fading or tarnishing of the finish, and loose or lost stones. We repair or replace the piece. In-stock US orders arrive in 1–2 business days.
Where Jaxxon and GLD beat us: Moissanite pieces at Adamans are final sale, so there's no trial period like Jaxxon's 30 days or GLD's 14. Check your length with our tennis chain size guide before you order. And if you just want a plain gold chain under $200, Jaxxon and GLD are cheaper.
How to check any chain before you buy
- Read the material line, not the product name. "Diamond Tennis Chain" is a style name. The spec should tell you the base metal and the stone.
- Ask what's under the gold. Steel, brass, copper-zinc alloy and sterling silver can all sit under a gold finish, and a good listing tells you which one you're getting.
- Compare weight at the same length. GLD lists 25g for its 5mm Cuban at 20 inches. A chain that's much lighter at the same width is usually hollow or thinner.
- Know what a diamond tester will say. CZ fails a standard diamond tester. Moissanite passes a standard thermal tester. More on that in our guide to whether moissanite passes a diamond tester.
- Read the warranty fees. "Lifetime" can mean one replacement with a fee. One year can mean free. Both can be fair; just know which you're getting.
