Cuban Link Bracelet Guide: Widths, Sizes and Prices (2026)
A Cuban link bracelet is a curb-style bracelet made of thick, rounded links that interlock tightly and lie flat on the wrist. Buying the right one comes down to four choices: the width (6mm to 10mm suits most men), the length (your wrist size plus 0.5 to 1 inch), the build (solid, hollow, plated or iced) and the clasp.
This guide covers each one with tables, shows how to work out what a solid gold bracelet is worth in metal, and lists the checks that separate a good bracelet from a cheap one. We make Cuban bracelets ourselves, so we also show what ours cost today and what they're made of.
Key takeaways
- 8mm to 10mm is the everyday width for most men. 12mm and up is a statement piece, and it needs a bigger wrist to look right.
- Measure your wrist snug, then add about 0.5 inch for a close fit or 1 inch for a looser fit. Add the full inch for links 10mm or wider.
- Solid gold is priced mostly by weight. Grams x purity (41.7% for 10K, 58.3% for 14K, 75% for 18K) tells you how much pure gold you're paying for.
- Plated and iced bracelets are priced by design and finish, not metal weight. Check what the base metal and plating are before you buy.
- A box clasp with a side safety latch is the standard on good Cuban bracelets. Press it shut and tug: it shouldn't pop open.
- Get the size right first time. Resizing plated or iced links is rarely clean, and many brands, us included, don't cover third-party resizing under warranty.

What is a Cuban link bracelet?
A Cuban link is a type of curb chain. Both use oval links that are twisted so they lie flat. The Cuban version uses thicker, rounder links set close together, so it looks heavier and has fewer gaps. On a wrist that reads as a solid band of metal rather than a loose chain. If you want the full side-by-side, we cover it in curb link vs Cuban link chains.
Today you'll find three broad looks:
- Plain Cuban: polished links, no stones. The classic.
- Iced clasp: plain links with a stone-set box clasp. A bit of shine without going fully iced.
- Fully iced (prong or pave): every link covered in stones. The loudest option.
Cuban link bracelet widths: which one suits you?
Width is measured across one link, in millimeters. It changes the look more than anything else. Thin bracelets layer easily with a watch. Wide ones are meant to be the main event.
| Width | How it looks | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 3mm to 5mm | Fine and subtle | Stacking, wearing next to a watch, slim wrists |
| 6mm to 8mm | Visible but clean | Everyday wear; a first Cuban bracelet |
| 10mm to 12mm | Bold, clearly a statement | Average to large wrists; matching a 10mm+ chain |
| 13mm to 15mm | Heavy and wide | Large wrists; worn alone |
| 18mm and up | Very chunky | Big wrists and full iced looks; can feel heavy all day |
A simple rule: if your wrist is under 7 inches, 6mm to 10mm will look in proportion. Over 7.5 inches, 10mm to 14mm stops looking oversized. If you wear a chain too, matching widths (or going slightly thinner on the wrist) looks deliberate.
How to size a Cuban link bracelet
Sizing is where most people go wrong. A Cuban bracelet is stiff, and the links take up room on the inside, so a wide bracelet fits tighter than a thin one of the same length.
- Wrap a soft tape measure, or a strip of paper, around your wrist just above the wrist bone. Pull it snug, not tight.
- Note the number. That's your wrist size.
- Add about 0.5 inch for a close fit that stays in place, or 1 inch for a looser fit that moves a little.
- For links 10mm or wider, add the full inch. For 14mm and up, lean to the longer size if you're between two.
| Wrist size | Up to 8mm wide | 10mm and wider |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 6.5 inches | 7 inches | 7 inches |
| 6.5 to 7 inches | 7 inches (close) or 8 inches (loose) | 8 inches |
| 7 to 7.5 inches | 8 inches | 8 inches (close) or 9 inches (loose) |
| 7.5 to 8 inches | 8 inches (close) or 9 inches (loose) | 9 inches |
| Over 8 inches | 9 inches | 9 inches or longer |
Our bracelets come in 7, 8 and 9 inches (18, 20 and 23 cm) on most widths. A standard 8 inch bracelet fits most men with a 7 inch wrist.

Solid gold vs hollow vs plated vs iced
Two bracelets can look the same in a photo and be very different underneath. This is what each build means and what you're paying for.
| Build | What it is | What you pay for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid gold | Every link is gold alloy all the way through (10K, 14K or 18K) | Mostly the gold weight, plus labor | Price swings with the gold market; a thin solid bracelet can weigh less than you expect |
| Hollow gold | Gold links with an empty center | Gold look for less metal | Dents easily and can't be repaired well once crushed |
| Gold plated | A base metal (often silver, brass or steel) with a gold layer on top | Design and finish | Plating can wear at the clasp and edges over time; ask what the base metal is |
| Iced (stone-set) | Links set with moissanite, cubic zirconia (CZ) or lab-grown diamonds | The stones and the setting work | Stone quality varies a lot; glued stones fall out, prong-set stones hold better |
Iced bracelets are usually plated or silver underneath, because setting hundreds of stones into solid gold gets expensive fast. That's fine as long as the brand tells you plainly. If a listing says "gold" and nothing else, ask what the bracelet is made of.
How much is a Cuban link bracelet?
It depends on the build. Plated and iced bracelets run from under $100 to a few thousand dollars, depending on the stones and the work. Solid gold bracelets are priced mostly by weight, and you can check whether a price is fair with simple maths.
Working out the gold value of a solid bracelet
Ask for the weight in grams. Then:
Grams x gold purity x (spot price per troy ounce / 31.1) = value of the pure gold
Gold purity is 41.7% for 10K, 58.3% for 14K and 75% for 18K. A troy ounce is 31.1 grams. Look up the live spot price on the day you buy, because it moves daily. Here's a worked example for a 30 gram bracelet, using an example price of $4,000 per ounce (not today's price):
| 30 g bracelet | Pure gold inside | Gold value at an example $4,000/oz |
|---|---|---|
| 10K (41.7%) | 12.5 g | About $1,610 |
| 14K (58.3%) | 17.5 g | About $2,250 |
| 18K (75%) | 22.5 g | About $2,890 |
That's the metal only. Retail prices add labor, design and the jeweler's margin on top. If a "solid gold" bracelet costs less than the gold inside it, it isn't what the listing says. Our guide on how to tell if a chain is real gold covers the tests that work on bracelets too.

How to check a Cuban link bracelet's quality
Whether you buy from us or anyone else, run through these before you pay, or as soon as it arrives.
- Weight. For solid gold, the listing should give grams. No weight listed is a red flag on a solid piece.
- Stamps. Solid gold is usually stamped near the clasp: 10K or 417, 14K or 585, 18K or 750. A stamp alone isn't proof, since plated pieces sometimes carry one too.
- Links. Lay it flat. The links should sit tight with no gaps, no kinks and no links that twist the wrong way.
- Clasp. Close it and pull. A box clasp should click in firmly, and a safety latch on the side gives a second lock.
- Stones (iced pieces). Look at it under a bright light. Every stone should be there, level and held by prongs, not glue. A white-looking stone that throws rainbow flashes is typical of moissanite.
- Paperwork. Moissanite should come with a grading report. Here's how to check that a GRA moissanite report is real. Our moissanite pieces also pass a standard diamond tester.
- Warranty. Read what it covers in writing. Ours covers faulty clasps and links, breakage in normal wear, fading or tarnishing of the finish, and loose or lost stones, for life.
Box clasp vs lobster clasp
Most Cuban bracelets 8mm and wider use a box clasp: a tongue that slides into a box and clicks shut, often with one or two side latches for extra security. It sits flush, so it looks like part of the bracelet, and it's the one you can ice with stones. Thinner Cuban bracelets often use a lobster clasp, a spring-loaded hook. It's fine for 3mm to 6mm, but on a heavy bracelet it's the weak point.
To put on a box clasp bracelet with one hand, rest the bracelet over your wrist with the box end on top, hold the tongue end with your fingers against your palm, and push the tongue into the box until it clicks. Then close the side latch.
Can you resize a Cuban link bracelet?
A jeweler can usually shorten a solid gold Cuban bracelet by taking out links and rejoining it. Plated and iced bracelets are harder. Cutting through plating or stone settings leaves a visible join, and the new solder point can be weaker than the rest of the bracelet.
Check the warranty first. Under our policy, resizing or repair by anyone other than Adamans isn't covered, and the same is true at many brands. The better plan is to measure properly and pick the right length from the start.
Matching a Cuban bracelet with a chain or watch
- With a chain: match the metal color, and either match the width or go one size thinner on the wrist. A 10mm bracelet with a 10mm to 14mm Cuban chain looks like a set. For the chain itself, our chain length guide for men covers which length to get.
- With a watch: wear the bracelet on the other wrist, or keep it to 6mm to 8mm if it's on the same wrist so it doesn't scratch the watch case.
- Metals: gold with gold and white with white is the safe choice. Two-tone works when one piece is clearly the main one.

Cuban link bracelet: common questions
How should a Cuban link bracelet fit?
It should move a little but not slide over your hand. You should be able to fit one finger between the bracelet and your wrist.
What size Cuban link bracelet should I get?
Measure your wrist and add about 0.5 inch for a close fit or 1 inch for a looser one. Most men with a 7 inch wrist wear an 8 inch bracelet.
How much does a Cuban link bracelet cost?
Plated and iced bracelets range from under $100 to a few thousand dollars. Solid gold bracelets cost at least the value of the gold inside them (grams x purity x spot price), plus labor and margin.
Can you shorten a Cuban link bracelet?
A jeweler can usually remove links from a solid gold Cuban bracelet. Plated and iced bracelets don't resize cleanly, and third-party resizing can void the warranty.
How do you put on a Cuban link bracelet?
Lay it over your wrist, hold the tongue end against your palm and push it into the box clasp until it clicks. Then close the side safety latch.
What width Cuban link bracelet is best for men?
8mm to 10mm suits most men for everyday wear. Go 12mm or wider if you have a larger wrist or want a statement piece.
