Trey Songz's Custom Pendant: The One-of-One Piece We Made for Him
Trey Songz now wears a one-of-one iced pendant made by Adamans. It's a house set in colored stones, with an emerald-cut green center stone, roses on either side and red and yellow flames breaking out of the frame, on a white and pink Cuban link chain with rose links. The whole piece has 3,900 hand-set stones and weighs 1.3 kilos. When Trey counted the roses on it, he told us why they mattered to him.
Here's the piece up close, the story he told us, how the reveal went, with the photos and video from the night, and how to get a custom pendant designed for you.
Key takeaways

- Every Adamans custom pendant starts with your idea and a design render, and is made to order.
The custom pendant we made for Trey Songz
The pendant is square and fully iced. In the middle sits a house in colored stones: yellow walls, an emerald-cut green stone at its center and a red base, with a rose on each side. Red and yellow flames break out of one corner of the frame, so the piece looks like it's moving even when he's standing still.
It hangs from an iced bail on a Cuban link chain that alternates white links with pink rose links, which picks up the pink of the roses on the front. The pendant alone weighs 800 grams; with its 500-gram chain the whole piece comes to 1.3 kilos, set with 3,900 hand-set stones.
Why the roses mattered
Before the chain went on, Trey touched the small rose pendant he was already wearing and told us what it meant to him:
"You see how this rose on my neck, I stopped wearing a lot of jewelry because this one means the most to me since my grandmother passed."
Then he looked down at his new piece and counted: "You got 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 roses in there."
And then, to us: "Come on, Cal. It means a lot to me, bro."
The reveal
We brought it in our green croc Adamans case with two chains inside: his pendant on its white and pink Cuban, and a second chain we had brought along as a fake, for comparison. A member of our team, in black gloves, clicked open the locks in front of Trey and put the tester on the fake first. Nothing. "Bad news," as the room put it. Then the tester went on Trey's pendant, and the lights ran all the way up.
Then the chain went over his head. The rest of the night, at the gold phoenix wall, is in the video.
What makes a custom pendant like this work
A big custom piece has to read from across a room and still reward a close look. Trey's pendant does four things that are worth copying if you're designing your own:
- A bold outline. The square frame is simple, so the shape is clear even in a dark club or a phone photo.
- Color contrast. The green center stone sits against a red base and a white iced border, so the eye goes straight to the middle.
- Something that breaks the frame. The flames spill over the edge, which gives a flat pendant depth and movement.
- A chain that talks to the pendant. The pink rose links on the chain repeat the roses on the front, so the whole piece looks planned rather than added.
None of that needs a famous name behind it. Most of the custom pendants we make start from a family photo, a logo, a nickname or a place that means something to the person wearing it.
Picking a chain for a big pendant
The chain matters as much as the pendant. A large piece on a thin chain tips forward and looks unfinished; on the right chain it sits flat and looks like one piece.
- Style: Cuban links lie flat against the chest and have the weight to balance a big pendant, which is why so many iced pendants hang on them. Tennis chains suit smaller, lighter pendants.
- Width: as a rough guide, the bigger the pendant, the wider the chain. A pendant the size of Trey's looks right on a Cuban link of around 10mm or more. Our Cuban link size chart shows every width.
- Length: 20 to 22 inches puts a large pendant in the middle of the chest. Go shorter and it sits on the collarbone; go longer and it swings. Our chain length guide shows where each length sits.
- The bail: check the bail (the loop the chain runs through) is big enough for the chain you want, especially with a wide Cuban.
Pink, white and ice: how to wear it
Trey wore his pieces over a plain black tee, and that's the easiest way to let colored stones stand out. A few more tips for the same look:
- Pick up one color from the pendant in the chain, the way the pink rose links echo the roses on Trey's piece.
- Let one piece lead. With a statement pendant, keep the second chain shorter and simpler so they don't tangle or compete.
- Dark, plain clothes make colored stones look brighter; busy prints hide them.

Looking after an iced pendant
- Store it on its own, ideally in its box or a soft pouch, so the stones don't scratch other pieces.
- Put it on after perfume, cologne and lotion, and take it off before swimming, the gym or the shower.
- Wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing. For a deeper clean, a soft brush with warm water and mild soap, then dry it fully.
